Audrey Morrow

Nepean, Ontario

I was born on May 28th, 1916, in Lanark County, Ontario. I married Joseph Morrow in 1933. We had 5 children, Vena, Mae, Neil, William and Ora. I only completed 8 grades but up-graded when I was in my fifties. I began writing then but only in local papers. I first attempted to have something published in 1995. I attribute any success I have to God. I can be reached through The National Library of Poetry.

God's Wonders

I stand upon a hill top high
Where the wind blows wild and free
I stand and scan the universe
God's hand prepared for me.

For He made the mountains high
All clothed in verdure bright
He made the valleys wide and deep
And streams that chuckle in the night.

The sun he made for light, and heat and life
The moon for season due
And then for me, the soft night darkness made
The stars he hung for you.

God's Distribution

A buttercup is beautiful, A delight for to see
So long as it is in a field, where it's meant to be
But, like the anger, that burns in our heart
If it is in the wrong place, we must make it depart.

For God has a purpose, and a place for each thing
Be it a weed, or a flower, or a man who can sing
And each in his place, is perfect to see
So long as we stay where God wants us to be.

My Father

He showed me all the splendor
Of a sunset in the fall
He gave to us all nature
We heard the Whippoorwill's call.

He taught us of the beauty
Of the first flowers in the spring
He showed us where the wild deer came
To slack their thirst in the bubbling spring.

He gave us shadows on the wall
At night when we were small
He gave us love and we missed it all
And did not see we were his all.

Why is it that we see too late
The love he gave we returned with hate
We blamed him for our lowly state
Nor could we see we'd love too late.

Oh, how I wish I could go back
And let him know he left no lack
But gave us all the love he had
This man who was our own true dad.
