Should there be those who walk away in thought; and whether or not they disagree, there may be a truth in the view that poetry cleanses. Perhaps after all, man cannot only prevail but endure, human ends can be ultimately answered, and we and the world may not only persevere, but preserve.The one free area of all men is thought, and even in this era of turmoil, contemplation and thought may change the world.

Bosnia

In a country gone mad they lay embraced in death,
A Muslim and a Serb who loved amidst dread.
Racing toward freedom; seeking fulfillment in life,
Their quest for love and marriage ended with a bullets bite.
In a last painful gesture of care and compassion,
She placed her arm over him in a loving expression.
The "differences" they had overcome in their young lives,
Left them lying for days unclaimed by either side.
No lessons have been learned by this tragic example
As the war goes on and young and old are trampled.
The past and present seem helplessly entwined
As humanity withers and erodes in decline.

Eons Of Time

That which has taken eons of time,
Man destroys with impunity, the earth in decline.
Deserts are forming under the seas,
Formerly teeming with life on flourishing coral reefs.
Some species of wildlife that lived with man on this earth
Has ceased to exist, in mans hasty quest.
Fish life in decline among many species
May deny us life when all else is depleted.
Rain forests disappearing all over the earth,
As deserts spread and drought brings us thirst.
Evolution and time is not on our side,
For that which we destroy took eons of time.

Separation And Conquest

Africa has become a world watched problem of races,
Where the natives of that land are in conflict with separationist.
Western man will not concede to equal co-existence
With non-white people who live in a sub-level existence.
The American Indians were pushed aside and conquered;
Still treated wiht reluctance socially, second class and angered.
In Canada and Alaska the native Eskimo and Indian retreats,
Under the "tolerant" behavior of western mans conceits.
The weak, the untrained, and the third world poor,
Are still used and abused and held in scorn.
Western man has bought a Latin-American native elite,
That exploits its own people who must grovel at their feet.
In the name of the "good life", millions are humilated,
Forced to live in hovels and are completely separated.
As if in repentance, there are humanitarian aid offers,
While the game goes on; the fat into preferred coffers.
Separation and conquest by any other name;
Is still apartheid, for social and economic gain.
