Alice M. Thomas

Columbus, GA, USA

My name is Alice M. Thomas. I have been writing and scribbling notes for as long as I can remember. But it wasn't until I was 60 years old that I was able to let someone else read it. I have raised five children and put them all through college. I lost two of my daughters to breast cancer, but that brought me closer to God. I have also written a book I call "Poison Love." I dedicate this poem to the human race. All my life I worked at helping others. I have finished Nurse Technicians School and as a nurse for thirty years, I have heard others cry out for love and care. I have always had two jobs. I went into business for myself, selling costume jewelry. The name of my business is the "Jewelry Lady." I am well known as the "Jewelry Lady." Now I work as a Job Developer for Partnership In Caring O.J.T. (On the Job Training). My pen name is Alyce. I was raised on a farm with a lot of hard work.  I picked cotton and cut sugarcane like many other children who didn't have much. Now, I work in my church and sing in the choir, and I love it.

My Mother

What a wonderful person a mother
Other folks can love you
But only a mother understands
She works for you
Looks after you
Loves you forgives you
Anything you may do
And then the only thing
Bad she ever does do
Is to leave you.

Same

As I walk on this beautiful earth every day. I am not walking alone.

I am walking with others. You are walking with others. For this
earth is not my home. Why can't we share our love. Oh this earth
is so beautiful it is God's gift to his children to share. Why can't we
share the same.

For this short stay, why can't we share this gift. Why can't we
share the same.

My brother my brother why can't we share the same we are the
same. My love is the same as your love. My heart is the same my
fear is the same. My pain is the same water. We wash in the
same water it is clear. It is the same.

God meant for this to be, why can't you see, that three things the
same in men! His heart, his blood, and his water, is the same. Let's
share the same as God meant it to be the same.

My brother my brother when you get this in your head then the
whole world will be better to live and to love for it the same the same.

I Am

I am sitting, I am sitting, I am sitting.
I am up as high as I can go.
If you look up, up, up, and can't see me.
Then I am higher than, You can ever, look and see.
Where I am sitting, and what I a sitting on, I will not say.

For I can see innocent little children playing, they are running
and having fun, and having their way.

I see a play house, color is red, WAIT! WAIT! I see inside the
wall is black with ugly words written on the wall. My children
is running inside a dark play house, mean words is on the wall,
disgrace drawing is on the wall.

I see evil, I see no morals, I see drugs. I see my child
smoking and drinking.

I SEE! I SEE! WAIT! WAIT! I see, the writing is white on the walls
and their is a blinking yellow light, it is blinking so fast until
every child want to see what is inside. PARENTS, PARENTS,
WALK FAST, RUN RUN, and catch your children and bring them back.

To your loving arms, your loving home. Put your strong arms
around them. Let that child know that GOD is POWERFUL and
YOUR love is STRONG. That God's powerful word is not in that
little house.

I am in a hurry, come and run with me for I am in a hurry,
come and join my group, for we are running, not walking! We
are going to catch our children before they enter into that
little red house, for I am sitting where I can see for that house
is in my view, for I AM . . .

FOR I AM SITTING WHERE I CAN SEE . . . I AM

Stop This Hate!

Stop this hate. Stop this killing. Stop this
talking. Stop this watching. Stop this dislike
of color of humanity. Like you and me can do
something about it. Let's do something. Let's
change the things that we can. Listening to
what our children have to say, let's love. Let's
read to our children, let's read. What's! to
read? If you look at their little faces, you will
see, the need to read. Maybe a poem, a story
of love, the bible, or sing a song. It starts at
home. You can see. You can hear the crying
in the street, You can feel the hurt in your
heart before you hear the news.

Oh, they are gone, and what a good child. We
will say. I saw them out of school one day. I
saw them in a place that they shouldn't have been.
I saw them with a cigarette. What did I
do? What did I say? I closed my eyes and went
on my way. What did I do? What did I say? I
could have given some love and understanding.
Stop this hate, stop this hate.
Let's give love instead.

Innocent

I am just an innocent baby, just arrived on your planet
I was born in sin my flesh is weak
God knows it's
I was born with a gift of love,
My mother used to tell me that she loved me, and I
Was special gift from God,
I am going to take my love and fling it all over the universe
When my love touches you, you will know it.
The feeling that I will leave with you,
You won't have any doubt about it,
For you will be awaking up at dawn and think it is morning,
And wake up in the morning and think it is midnight
And wake at midnight and think it is dawn.
For you will know that I am here for my love is
Innocent, and real, and you will  know it's, for I
Arrived here! And know it!
