I'm retired at 86 years old. I did all different kinds of work. I loved working at the theaters. I worked for Columbia theaters as an Usher and then as a Billing clerk in the office here in Memphis. I cashiered for Warner Theater, Lowes State and Lowes Palace Theater. I also worked for all the department stores and 10 cent stores as well as at a cafeteria. This is my first poetry. I am a member of Sacred Heart Church in Memphis, TN. I love going to church; I love my neighbor. I write my poems and I also write short stories of my life. I live on the Mississippi River. I watch the boats go by. I have one daughter, one granddaughter and two great-grandchildren (one girl and one boy). I raised my daughter alone. She is a Realtor in Honolulu (her own business).

The Beautiful Lady Dressed in White

I fell in a dark closet one night
from an ear injury; blood streaming
from my ear.
I was crying for my mother; she
had died when I was 8 years old;
I was now 15 years old.
I looked up and a beautiful lady
dressed in white came down
over me in a bright light.
Motioning with her right fore finger
from right to left; no more fighting
through times;
The she smiled a tender smile
and went back up in a bright light.
I shall not ever forget that night
and the beautiful lady dressed in white.

(This is true. It really happened.)
