Al Gibson

Baker, Florida, USA

The poetry of Al Gibson is inspirational and spontaneous. Totally by surprise, an inspiring moment arrives, and he records the poetry. He is a vice president in a financial institution, and has been in this career field for many years. Al's poetry has been published by The National Library Of Poetry and Sparrowgrass Poetry Forum. He has also authored "Mental Toughness," a non-poetic autobiographic book of a near tragic event in his life. Al says, "The pleasure I receive from my poetry is sharing and enjoying it with others."

The Performance

With grace and fury into the arena the birds flew,
daunting their colors while showing no fear,
they lit in the grass to drink of the morning dew,
quenching their thirst, they sang sweet music to our ears.

They all played while listening for any sound of danger,
Triumphantly they'd joust and display their noble pride,
when suddenly with a gust of wind there appears a stranger,
They each took flight, attempting to find a place to hide,
But there was no need for alarm as a hawk took over the throne,
no bird will challenge him for the kingdom or else he'd be gone.

Together, the jays, cardinals, sparrows, and robins began to sing,
briskfully they bounce about with a flutter in their wings,
with feathers a-glow from the morning sun,
the day matured and so did their fun,
soon the sun began to set in the west,
it's time to leave and return to the nest,
With a spring and no show of dismay,
harmonizing, the birds sang the day away.

Volcano

As the eruption began smoke formed a cloud and darkened the sun,
down the mountain the molten rock begins to run,
the volcano has taken charge and will have so much fun,
nothing will interfere with this master until it's done.

Disruptive, Destroying, and shaking the earth while the air becomes dry,
everything aflame that was within its path,
all worldly and natural possessions exhales a deathly cry,
at the pain that is felt of this woeful wrath.

Then without warning, ash begins to fall in a dusty shower,
it's the remnants of destruction of this great power,
calming there is a display of the scars of a great war,
remain subtle, nature rules, and now is angry no more.

Memory will fill many an epic tale,
experiences will build, while inadequacies will fail,
to grip hope is a true discovery,
await the heal as time allows for a complete recovery.
