Counting Metric Feet on a road....

Monometer                        Monotony landscapes flying by so fast

Dimeter                               Distances shortened-here soon becomes past

Trimeter                              Trees, short and tall, speeding by, making no sense

Tetrameter                          Telling their life stories over the fence

Pentameter                          Five pennies suddenly fall down from heaven!

Hexameter                           Hexagon catching them one by one

Heptameter                         Heptane flames deserting the petroeum factory

Octometer                            Octonary firemen trying to save the laboratory...

You must rush to save time in a short, short day
Days soon become weeks, then months and years
Until all your life has gone by...
Take time to look back to see how your meter is running
Have all the important things in your life been taken care of?

Count your Metric feet when you speed down life's road!

Smily Willie

Willie went through the Paula Jones case
With a sweet, innocent smile on his face
All the accusations against hime he denied
Never losing the sweet smile on his lips, he tried.
Then, the Monica Lewinsky case popped up
Smily Willie had to drink a very bitter cup.
Willie, still with a smily face, all the wrongdoings  denied
With  a smile, Bill denied all the accusations against him
With his hands on the Holy Bible, he lied...?
Willy's high position in public life hanged on a hair
Never showing any fear, Bill just smiled at what was said.

Outside the tainted White House, in a huge tent
A victory feast was given to God, at the trial's end
Bill celebrated his victory with his friends who cared
Soloists, choirs, musical artists were performing on the air.
Smily Willie, with his wife beside him, Amazing Grace,
Together with hundreds of friends, were singing,
The nightmare of Impeachment was disappearing-
Leaving Slicky Willie still smiling.

My Quiet Friend

My quiet friend in the mirror, I'm looking at you every day.
You used to be gay and cheerful: rosy cheeks, smooth skin, bright eyes...
Year by year your complextion changes (rosy cheeks are maintained by rougt.)
Healthy brightness in your eyes are covered with sadness
Once so smooth skin...shows lines that grow.
Year by  year, my friend in the mirror grows older: pale cheeks, dull
eyes...wrinkled skin.
In vain I try to keep up the memory
of my friend in the mirror...that once was.
Inside my heart a picture I wear, as a young and beautiful girl.
And I wish, that all  the mirrors were changed: to the one "Dorian Gray" once had
If only the image of youth will stay put...in the mirror on the wall:
May-be then, all life's misery will change, to a new and more beautiful dawn.

Facts About Estonia, Aino Kabe's Homeland*

Estonia is located on the shores of the Baltic Sea, south of Finland and west of Russia. Estonians are Finno-Ugric people. By absorbing Estonia in 1940, the Soviet Union acquired one of the leading centers of Finno-Ugric studies in Europe. The two other centers are Hungary and Finland. When the country was occupied by the Soviet Union, Estonia was no longer an emergent nation, nor an undeveloped society. Its populace was fully literate and its educational level among the highest in the world. A major accomplishment of the two decade interwar republic was the development of a strong national cultural identity which had extensive roots and ties with Western Europe. The Estonian economy during the second half of the 1930's was rapidly industrializing, hence for the Soviets, it was possible to build upon an existing educational, scientific, and economical-technical base when they took over Estonia.

*"Facts About Estonia" was taken from a book with the same title.
