Aileen Karg

Crawfordsville, Indiana, USA

Aileen's first poem was written at age seven. She's a minister's widow, the mother of two daughters, Susan and Karen, and a retired teacher. She has been published in newspapers, magazines, and quarterlies. Aileen is a violinist and has composed songs such as Golden Melody and Change About World. She holds degrees from Taylor University and Indiana State, and is included in the 1996 Who's Who in the Midwest. "I like to study scripture and give credit to the All Powerful and Loving God. Good poetry is like music to my ears and honest people, a delight".

Music

An old friend, my violin,
Still lies within it's case,
And at times I take it out
To play and reminisce.
The joy of life it brought to me
As I picked up that precious bow,
And o'er the strings did play the songs,
That were the best to know.
My problems seemed to dwindle,
My thoughts went high above,
When the music flowed so gently,
In tender tonelike love.
There's nothing else can take it's place,
The music of this world,
To bring that special joy of life,
To unloose and to unfurl.

Turned Up Frown

I've searched this whole world over
And nary have I found
The like of anything more beautiful,
Than a turned up downward frown.
It bubbles, bubbles, bubbles,
And catches on real fast
'til everybody sees it,
And joins in on the blast.
Now, if you want to be real happy
And let your light be found,
Just look on the sunny side
And turn up that downward frown.

A World Of Wonderful People

We live in a world of wonderful people
Throughout the universe.
We live in a world of wonderful people
Where friends are friends with us.
With "hellos" here and "hellos" there
And "How are you today?"
"I hear the stock market's down,
But there's plenty to go around
And there's health and happiness we see,
In the likes of you and me."
We live in a world of wonderful people,
Who love and work and care,
For beauty, strength and honor,
We find it everywhere.
We find just what we look for,
We find it every day,
In this world of wonderful people
God gives to us along life's way.

The Answer

In this world of doubt and change,
It's my life I must arrange,
Get in order the things I must,
Look to my Heavenly Father, my Trust.
