Adrian Geneva Terry

Woodbridge, VA, USA

I am Adrian Terry of Woodbridge, VA. I'll be eighty-five this year, I was born in Manassas, but lived most of my life in Haymark, VA. I joined the Baptist church when I was sixteen. I have always believed in God. He is with me all the time. I helped raise eight children, four were mine and four were taken from neglected homes in which they were abused. I worked for the phone company. I also taught school. I sang at weddings and in the church choir. I have had some sorrow but I can say truthfully, I've had a very happy life and I have always loved poetry.

As Time Goes By

I get up in the mornings
thinking about the days
gone by. I am so thankful
for my happy childhood
life. My wonderful Mom,
and Dad and five sisters
and brothers. I have no
family now, but you know
God wanted me to be happy,
to enjoy life and I have, with
so many memories and so
many miracles to believe in.
Birds singing, butterflies
everywhere, bees humming
and flowers blooming in the
garden. I feel "God" is watching
over me all the time. I am
so happy and lucky to be
here among this world of
beauty and love.
