Ada Deaton-Amburgey

Middletown, Ohio, USA

Ada's desire is that her poems will inspire faith in God, love for family and God, and peace among men of all nations.  Her favorite quotation is, "I believe that person is most educated who can put himself in the place of the greatest number of other persons."  I believe this can only be achieved by allowing Christ's Spirit to live in us and love others through us.

A Joyous Grandmother

So thrilling is a new grandson, or granddaughter which e'er it may be
When the ecstasy of new parenthood has dimmed in the memory
A new grandchild means beginning again a two-way love affair
That warms a grandma's loving heart with joy beyond compare!

Thanks to Chris, my precious son, and Fran, his lovely wife
This special joy they've given me in the last twelve years of life!

First there was Kurt, a beautiful grandson with mama's big brown eyes
Second, brown-haired Kristen, then blond haired Katie, blue-eyed to Dad's surprise.
From his "Yittle Yone-Ranger" days, when Kurt was three
To her "Dorothy in Oz" role by Kristen
We've come a long way, for Katie, now at three, demands when she speaks that we "listen!"

Love that they give is better than gold, or red valentines all lacey
They keep me young and light of heart as they romp with their collie called Kasey
My heart is aglow as these little ones I know, put their arms around me so sweetly
I then lift my eyes to the Lord in the skies and whisper, "Thanks, Lord," so discreetly.

God Loves Diversity

Our FATHER loves divers-i-ty
That explains the face of you and me
The mind of God we can't explain
Dare we question Him, or e'er complain?
He is the maker of us all
And-if upon Christ's name we call
Christ will bring us back from Adam's fall
To God the FATHER of us all

Why fuss if skin is black or white?
Both are beautiful in God's sign!
What others did in years before
Let's put away forevermore!
Mar not the future with the past
Promote the things we want to last:
Our love for God and family
And peace of mind, so all can see-
That of one blood we all partake
Blood shed on Calvary for all men's sake
Past sins of men must be forgiven
If faces shine with God in Heaven!

God Chose Small Things

Our mighty God is interested in "Small Things"
The little ant, and smallest bird with gifted wings
The universe in all of it's immensity
Is not so dear to Him as you, or me
The Earth--dear "Home" to each and all of us
Is fifth in size to planets of our universe
Of planets nine revolving 'round the distant sun
The Earth, so small, was God our Father's chosen one
To hold His children 'til their time here-on is done

God gave to Earth an atmosphere with oxygen
To complement Earth's solid lithosphere
And blessed pure waters of the hydrosphere
To refresh His creatures who to Him are very dear
He carpeted the land with verdant greens
In Eden's garden fair fruit trees were seen
He filled the seas with fish of finest kind
Provided milk and meat with cattle, sheep and swine
He then created man with God-like mind!

When Jesus beheld Satan like lightning fall
He chose the Nation of Israel, also small
To give the words of God to guide men's lives
The faithful saw His glory and still thrive
Then Jesus bore the weight of all men's sins
On Calvary's rugged cross that all may win
Eternal life on Heaven's golden shore
Where we shall live with joy forevermore
With God, and those we love gone on before!
