I was born in 1957, in Kamargaon a village in the outskirts of Sylhet, Bangladesh. I studied poetry in the University of Cambridge. I have read a series my of poems on the BBC radio and on different occasions I have talked on BBC radio Suffolk, BBC world service, BBC television, ITV, and radio Bangladesh. As an author, I love reading and writing poetry, I have also published five books. In 1994, to honour our national heroes I displayed the World's Largest Bengali Alphabet in the UK and flowers were dropped from the aeroplane. This event was published internationally. I am the chairman of the Bangladesh National Students Award. The organisation has helped thousands of students in Bangladesh. Numbers of scholars have been awarded for their outstanding contributions. I am involved with many organisations including the International Society of Poets. My wife Laila Ahmed and I have 5 lovely children, Parul, Parvin, Raju, Rosie, Shabnam. I have received many awards for my commitments form various institutions round the world including a Ph. D. |
