Little by little the tension builds in my mind,
Wondering anymore if it's even worth my time.
Knowing in my heart that something's not right, (don't give up without a fight)

I just found this poem that was published in a book of poetry back in 1997. It was written in honor of a neighbor who died of Lukemia. I will always remember you Itsvan De Roth xx

The funeral was today.
He died yesterday; before the next.
Today was his seventy-ninth birthday.
He died yesterday; before the next.
I at least had the chance to say goodbye.
He died yesterday; before the next.
He asked me not to leave his side so soon.
He died yesterday; before the next.
He was the one who left too soon.
He died yesterday; before the next.
You should have seen his eyes.
He died yesterday; before the next.
You should have felt his hand.
He died yesterday; before the next.
He still managed to smile.
He died yesterday; before the next.
Now I lay a rose on his grave.
He died yesterday; before the next.
A yellow rose, from his garden.
He died yesterday; now I sadly, await the next.

Inside; inside of me, is like a prison.
Outside; outside of me, is like a garden.
Who has the key to this steel bar door?
Who has the scent to these flowers?
Inside; inside of me, it's so dark.
Outside; outside of me, it's so grey.
Who has the candle to light this room?
Who has the colours to colour this rose?
Inside; inside of me, it's so cold.
Outside; outside of me, it's so frosty.
Who has some heat to spare?
Who has some sun to share?
Inside; inside of me, it has become so unclear.
Outside; outside of me, it has become so dry.
Who has the answers?
Who has some water?
Receive love in, and the door will open.
Send love out, and the garden will flourish.
Inside and outside; I need love to survive, from me, from you,
to me, to you!

Doubly blessed upon this day.
Worlds of wisdom doth have its say.
Show your face this ancient hour.

I don't know why I hang on so tight
You're not the angel I pretend you to be
