How merry seems the butterfly
Who skims the winds and floats,
Aimlessly across the skies
In search of flowers nectar soaked.

How carefree seems this insect
Who does not question why,
And cares not that his intellect
Is nothing compared to mine.

Yes, at peace is the butterfly
And once man shared this peace,
But answers to his questions why
He seeks and will not cease.

And, as he unlocks these mysteries
Much knowledge he unfolds,
And with that comes the miseries
Of still more answers yet untold.

I understand now why Adam and Eve
Were so precious in God's eye,
For in them God had found a need
As now I need the butterfly.
