In heaven will I know
that you were black
and I was white?
Will I know that for years
there was a fight?
Division among our brothers,
joined by heavenly blood;
God gave us His all,
His one and only son.
Blood spilled out for you and for me,
on a hill called Calvary.
The color was crimson red,
not black or white;
to cover all sin,
to join us as kin.
For you see,
our soul is a reflection
of who lives within,
this callused house
that we call "skin".
