Requiem of a man

by James Ryland Barnes

When a man has a son he sees himself reflected in love.
Unconditional is a word not for the selfish.
Yet when a man has a son this enters his heart.
When a man has a son his perceptions change.
Work now has a deeper meaning than bling and flash.
Yet when a man has a son he works harder for material things.
The irony.
When a man has a son he see in himself all that was,
All that will be,
All that is.
When a man has a son, he becomes a man.
