I slump into the hollows of my sofa as
The folds of my bathrobe
Mirror the folds of my skin
I grew this thick vest of flesh
To cover the artichoke spines of
My cruel heart
The shape of me serves as a disguise
A Kevlar-tough cushioning of lipids
Keeping the world safe
From my kamikaze spirit
