Never Cook One's Goose

by Wallace Dean LaBenne

Who would never sell the truth
to circumvent demise?
Who would never hoax the sleuth
to underpin disguise?
\Who would never steal a loaf
to satiate hunger?
Who would never swear an oath
to merchandise monger?
\Who would never flip the bird
to demonstrate disgust?
Who would never spend a word
to elevate mistrust?
\Who would never slip the noose
to guiltiness absolve?
Who would never cook one's goose
to propogare resolve?
