Your Favorite Song

I know you’re upset that our romance
Isn’t like that of a movie’s
I know you’re upset
Because I don’t say ‘I love you’ enough
But darling
I don’t want those words
To be like your favorite line
Of your favorite song
That you listen on repeat
For several days long
Oh how the writer put those words together
In perfect harmony
Where it tickles your soul
And touches your heart
You swear it was written just for you
Until the day
That song comes on
And you hit skip on your iPod
Or it’s on the radio
And you just habitually sing along
Then that one line is sung
Your soul doesn’t buzz
Your heart doesn’t skip a beat
And your mind doesn’t even grasp it
Because when I tell you ‘I love you’
I want it to make you feel
Like it’s the first time
You’ve heard your favorite line
Of your favorite song
