Death Of A Good Man

by Mike A. Shaughnessy

To all of you I left behind
It is now the time to unwind
Shed no tears at my demise
Just keep your eyes open wide
Remember me when I was young
Trying hard to keep a civil tongue
I enjoyed my life with my dear wife
Having boys once, twice, thrice
When they were born they were so tiny
So we settled in the town of Piney
The day that came to make me sway
Was when the Lord took Robert away
We kept our faith in all the rest
Still always hopeing for the best
From this day on I can finally say
I can now protect you night and day
From up above I will always guide
All my family on the righteous ride
So now I close with my last words
Please take care of all my birds
