Heart of a Champion

A blast chills the crisp air,
Reverberating through the waves of sound,
Reaching my mind in a split second,
Legs rush off into action,
Sinewy arms weave through the hoards of achievers,
Feet brushing the ground,
Flying on a sea of grass,
Across the view of everlasting blue of sky,
Hope flies, carried by fleeting feet,
And worries melt to gray,
As heart pumps hand in hand with mind,
Beating to the pulse,
Of victory.
