Heart Beat

Can’t stop the beat
The beat that is my heart
The constant rhythmic motion
Like knocking on a door
Like foot steps on the floor
The crash of a wave on sand
The constant beating of my heart
When does it start and when does it stop?
I have one heart but I beat for two
One for me and one for you
The burden of those two hearts
Grows heavy on my chest
If only I could rest and say
No to all the stress of being me
And like my arrhythmic heart
Slow down a beat
But I beat for two
One for me and one for you
And I must not rest for fear
I may slow down and even though
I may skip a beat occasionally
And my breath come out in little bursts
I can’t stop the beat that is my heart
It must never stop
Cuz I beat for two one for me
And another for you
