Set Me Free

Broken and battered, I succumbed to the pain.
I look back and question the culminating event,
Which led her to see me with nothing but disdain,
And made our harmonious love turn to dissent.

My heart longing for the love that was lost
To reunite with the woman that made me whole
I would pay any price, no matter the cost
To reclaim our bond, no matter the toll.

Young and foolish I know I may be
Yet she is my sustenance in life
Without her love, I am a withering tree
An empty shell, all I feel is strife.

Here I sit, this is my final decree,
The barrel of a gun will set me free.
