Semper Paratus is our guide...
and I am proud to be a Coastie until the day I die.
I joined at 17 with a wavier,
not much of a family of my own, you were my savior.
I went to boot right before my senior year,
I've had the most diverse, and professional of careers.
We've been through a lot these last 5 years,
some really good laughs, and sometimes tears.
"Always Ready", not just a saying, a gift to give,
We do our job, "So others may live."
Each day I put on the uniform and lace my boots,
still looking as sharp as a recruit.
I am proud to be doing what I do,
despite what the past may have put me through.
Face the day not knowing what to expect,
go on a rescue, call our loved ones when we're back.
Keep the drugs off the street that ruined my family,
save people on a burning ship from drowning.
My job has taught me to love life,
to fight the good fight as long as it's right.
Here I've found a family and a calling,
to become a civilian the idea seems appalling.
