Walking Away

Picture?type=square by Jmi P

Neither of will make that leap
Into each other’s embrace
Both stand with arms outstretched
But past pains we can’t release

I’m drawn to you like gravity
Yet the connection I can’t define
I don’t want your affection
And you don’t want mine

Yet I’m crossing my fingers
For even just a glance
Of this boy I don’t want
This phantom of my past

You can drive me crazy
And you can make me cry
No one else can do that
What power do you poses and why?

I see your arms out stretched
Waiting for me to spring
But I’m happy where I am
 No matter how tempting

Maybe it’s simply because
I never really let you go
Always holding you in my heart
Never completely giving up hope

I may carry you with me forever
But I’m still walking away
Because while I may love you
I don’t love you enough to stay

...but there's no rule for happy endings. This poem, if based on experience, makes me wonder about the history between the writer and subject. Very good flow and rhyme. I believe in the fourth stanza you meant to write the word "posses", (to have possession) instead of "poses" (as in someone who poses in front of a mirror).
