Scandalous

I know when I first saw the news
of hungry children whose eyes flies had nearly consumed
I thought it scandalous
and when I heard of child warriors
cold wars, brother against brother
I was scandalized
so who cares about the prince's wife
and her "injured pride"
her bare breasts make eyes wide
while everday innocence dies
and our silence is consent
so while we wallow in irreverence
we are ultimately accountable for every penny spent
on tabloid noise
while hungry girls and boys
suffer for our indifference
talk about a scandal!

We always seem to get whatever we focus on the most, out of life but we always focus on trivialities and then we complain about the triviality of life.

It is also very scandalous when somebody want only to receive and....never give !

Thanks Ingrid. I think there is a hint in there....

Unfortunately, the latest celebrity scandal sells better than an article on the atrocities in the world. Your poem speaks to this inequity and tells of the sad state of affairs in the world when we care more who is dating who than about the world's atrocities.

Thanks Brian, its so strange what we choose to focus on, some bare breasts, that all women have and are born showing can cause such a stir. It's just scandalous.lol

I find myself thinking the very same

perhaps that is for ppl who don't want to acknowledge the real terrors in the world

I believe that is part of it, the fear of facing suffering, but also I believe it to be a false value placed upon false pride, for us to make a stir over bare breasts it would have to be those of a princess, while the deaths of children who are poor seems normal or mundane to us. Thanks for the review

i'm on your side, too much going on then to buy into that non-sense, that has no impact on humanity

absolutely, the public is like a pubescent child searching for skirts to look up or in this case down. We need to sit up in class and realise what is truly important.
