Beauty

Beautiful today
Beautiful tomorrow
You were at the beginning
You'll be forever more

Beautiful this morning
Beautiful tonight
You glow  in the dark,
and shine in the light

Forgive my ignorance
for ignorance is bliss
But when my gaze fell upon you
my heart melted, and my eyes too

Shall I compare thee to a Summers day?
no, I shan't
'cause I can't

I compare you to a scene of serenity which doesn't  exist
or to another beauty I'll never find
Behold Planet Earth, she's one of a kind

Beauty, by Moelich Odendal 4.8 out of 5 based on 5 votes.

The poem starts out with the reader assuming that an angelic woman is the source of inspiration. The real treat is in the last line. The mild rebuff of Shakespeare's Sonnet 18, where the bard compares a woman to nature, is masterly, a great inversion.

Because of this, we must care for her, for once gone, so are we.
