My Love (The Quest)
My heart bleeds
With longing-
Not to feel unsatisfied
But to feel whole-
Not within my body,
But within my soul.
Not for empty embraces
Upon shallow nights,
But unquenchable love
That with passion ignites.
Neither days, nor years;
For love, benevolent,
Shall supersede time
And make it irrelevant.
And every moment without
Is a lifetime in years;
Every false love, malevolent-
A lifetime of tears.
Though I search, my beloved,
How shall I find you?
Through casting aside
And beginning anew?
What loves I have held
Exposed sorrowful riddle;
I have loved so much,
And gained very little.
It wearies me, now.
Am I cautious, or wise?
Though my heart burns inside of me,
I am finding new eyes.
The impatience of childhood,
Finally fallen away.
My gaze falls on infinity.
I am patient today.
If the heart is my quarry
I shall not take aim;
For love is a journey-
And never a game.
Though I’ve searched for you
In the arms of another,
Through every mistake
We are finding each other.
And I’ll not jump in haste;
No, this is my respect-
I’ll keep watch ‘til I know you
In every aspect.
Within arms, every feeling;
In your eye, every glint
Every reason for laughter,
Of love, every hint.
In every direction
Each journey you start,
And every motive
That rests in your heart.
Every bleak sorrow
That starts in your chest-
Every tear arrested
With humble request.
Every feeling, tested-
Sound, or unfounded?
For love, the truest,
Shall not be confounded.
And if every question
Finds answer in your eyes-
Though the heart knew before,
Now, truly recognize!
A beautiful face!
A mirror to my soul;
A puzzle piece-
One half to a whole.
And within your arms-
My home, they shall be.
Your love, a safe harbor
In life’s endless sea.
I will search every soul
To find you, my sweet;
Until my heart is beside yours,
Step for step, beat for beat.
Do not be afraid,
For tomorrow, we unite,
And every shadow
Shall cede to the light.
Then, gently, my love-
Kindly, and sweet;
The dearest of lovers
That ever shall meet. <3
