My Spotty Dog

My Spotty Dog

My spotty dog,
Curled up on the sofa
Trying to sleep but
Eyes opening from time to time

The fire is raging
On the cold autumn night
Giving warmth to
Everyone in the room

Finally the hound drifts
Into a deep sleep but
One eye will always not be
Far from opening when needed

As the night goes by
The flames begin to die
The fire running out of fuel
The pooch dreaming of a bone

And then the sun begins to rise
The fire is long burnt out
The dog awakens from slumber
Stretching his limbs to start the day
