Christmas Past

It all seemed real
When mother first made
The Christmas cake
And we all rushed to clean
The dish out with our spoons
My brother went up the lane
To get holly and a tree
And we girls made paper chains
We watched the snow come down
So we could get the sledge out
There was no TV, CD or computers
But, oh how happy we were
To go round the village
Singing carols, to look forward
To see what Father Christmas
Had brought, a book, a ball
A wood top, an apple or orange
To see the nativity play
No worry or care on this long
Christmas day.
