My Secret Sister

I have a secret sister
Who is in my thoughts and prayer
I ask God to watch over her
And keep her in His care
Long ago I can recall
When I was just a kid
I dreamed I had a sister
Not a brother……as I did
I dreamed that as we both grew up
We’d sometimes talk for hours
We’d walk in the woods as sister’s do
And we’d gather bouquets of flowers
And though I had no sister
As I was growing old
The secret sister I have now
Is worth her weight in gold

We had a group at my church called Secret Sisters. Everybody who joined filled out an information sheet and turned it in. Then all the information sheets were passed out and for the whole year that person was your secret sister. You bought her cards and gifts for holidays or just because. Then after the end of the year we had a get-together to reveal to each other who your secret sister was. This poem was one of the things I gave my secret sister.
