" | | | 12/1/2008 | B. Mackey | P, C ANADA | | | "Absolutely delighted and surprised. I played the game faithfullly every day for quite some time and came in the 'closest submission to winning time' quite often.--never thought I'd make it, but perseverence pays! Thank yoiu so much -- enjoyed the game and will continue to play. " | | | 11/28/2008 | Louisa Ritchotte | Moosup, CT | | | | | | 11/27/2008 | Caren Conway | Lewiston, MAINE | | | "Well I was surprised, but not elated because I did not win because I had anything good merely at the right time. I read through all the entries and found 5 I thought much better than mine. But still I was very happy to win regardless. Maybe if I keep playing and in 6 months win again it will be because you have chosen my entry to be good. I just will not try to play on weekends and Holidays. I love the poetry in motion and played years ago but never won. I am happy I won, Thanks.

I'd been entering the contest daily for about a month. My submission time had settled down to a particular two hour window on most mornings, when I missed a couple of days. I would have won that second day, had I submitted anything, so I went back to submitting something daily. It's been fun, and my skill at using your words and pieces to write something at least halfway sensible has improved with practice. On the day of my winning entry, the word selection seemed to have a Sci Fi theme, so that's the reason for the whimsical verse.
" | | | 11/12/2008 | Matt Schweigert | Ste. Genevieve, MISSOURI | | | "This may be the first contest I've ever won! It feels very inspiring to win at something I love to do.

I remember thinking, I will win today if I come anywhere close to the winning entry time, I was that certain that what I was submitting was something of quality. I've submitted entries now for several years, and never had a similar experience before, but it is still a thrill to win considering the thousands of entries that poetry. com gets on a daily basis. Whew hoo! I'm a winner!
